Welcome

to Hergood—a multilingual platform where I don’t just challenge the stigma in language, but also strive to reshape perceptions of women through every word and phrase, focusing on exploring, discussing, and redefining Chinese terms related to women.

Why De-stigmatize?

Ever puzzled or infuriated by why “Goddess Day” has replaced “Women’s Day” in Chinese contexts? Wondered why the “female perspective” is often tagged as limiting? Or questioned why feminism often gets linked with a radical image? Well, you’ve come to the right place! In Chinese, terms related to women are often stigmatized, leading people to think only of their negative connotations. As a result, even in positive or neutral contexts, we tend to shy away from these terms, forgetting their originally positive meanings.

Language is power. I refuse to relinquish this aspect of power that belongs to women.

My mission is clear: to challenge stigma and celebrate the power behind each term. By exploring the history and cultural backgrounds of these terms, our discussion extends beyond language itself to encompass identity, power, and social transformation. Language can change the world, and I am determined to ensure that every description of women is respected and treated fairly.

Why English?

Women’s issues are global.

Whether it’s in Chinese, English, or any other language, terms related to women often carry a heavy burden stemming from gender oppression. The stigmatization of women’s terms shows striking similarities across different languages: Why are common swear words in many languages related to mothers? Why does the term “strong woman” carry somewhat negative connotations? Why is “women’s intuition” confined within a certain framework?

Using English allows us to engage a global audience in this dialogue, pushing for a positive understanding and usage of women’s terms. No matter your cultural background, whether you’re a linguist, a feminist, or simply interested in gender studies, you will find a space here to freely express and learn together.
